Tristram J. Coffin, the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont, stated that Kermit
Flanders,44, of St. Albans, Vermont, was sentenced on May 5, 2014 by U.S. District Court Judge William K. Sessions, III, to 12 months plus 1 day in prison for conspiring to distribute heroin and oxycodone. The Court also sentenced Flanders to 3 years of supervised release after the completion of his prison term.
According to Court records, during December of 2013 through February of 2014, Flanders sold both heroin and oxycodone 30 mg. pills to an individual cooperating with the police on 5 separate occasions. The sales of controlled substances by Flanders all occurred in St. Albans.
Flanders was indicted by a federal grand jury on Sept. 12, 2013. He was arrested on Sept. 17, 2013 and appeared that day in federal court. He pled guilty on Feb. 24, 2014 and has been detained in prison since his arrest.
This case was investigated by the Vermont State Northwest Drug Task Force. The U.S. Attorney, Tristram J. Coffin, commends that agency for its work. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney, Nancy J. Creswell. Flanders was represented by Richard C. Bothfeld, Bothfeld and Volk, P.C.
