Bangor, Maine: United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that Chad

Amodio, 42, of Northwood, New Hampshire, pleaded guilty today in U.S District Court in

Bangor to interstate travel to have sex with a minor.

Court records and proceedings reveal that in March 2014, Amodio began having

inappropriate sexual conversations on a chat website with a 13-year-old girl. Police were alerted

and an undercover officer took control of the minor’s account. Amodio communicated with the

undercover officer and made plans to travel from his home in New Hampshire to Maine in order

to have sex at the girl’s home. Shortly after arriving at the Penobscot County address provided

by the undercover officer, Amodio was arrested. Alcohol and a bottle of lubricant were found in

his vehicle which he admitted purchasing in anticipation of the planned sexual encounter.

Amodio faces up to 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He will be sentenced after the

completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.

The investigation was conducted by the Bangor Police Department, the Federal Bureau of

Investigation, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, and the Maine State Police.
