St. Thomas, USVI - Eilin Montano, 35, pleaded guilty today in District Court on St. Thomas to Possession of a Firearm by an Illegal Alien, United States Attorney Ronald W. Sharpe announced.
As part of his plea, Montano admitted that he is in the United States unlawfully and without status, and that on Nov. 17, 2014, he discharged a firearm with an obliterated serial number in a residential area while involved in a domestic disturbance.
Possession of a Firearm by an Illegal Alien carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 30, 2015.
This case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security Homeland Security Investigations. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David White.
