ROCHESTER, N.Y.-U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced today that Luis Guzman, 26, of Rochester, NY, pleaded guilty to distribution of heroin and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa. The charges carry a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer M. Noto, who is handling the case, stated on Dec. 18, 2012, the defendant sold heroin and a.22 caliber revolver to a confidential informant during a police investigation. Guzman admitted to selling heroin and cocaine on approximately 18 other occasions between Nov. 30, 2012 and March 7, 2013.
The plea is the result of an investigation by Special Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Delano A. Reid, New York Field Division and Investigators of the Rochester Police Department, under the direction of Chief Michael Ciminelli.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 18, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Siragusa.
