On Dec. 10, 2015, Isaac Jackson, 36, of Murphysboro, was sentenced for possessing and distributing crack cocaine and methamphetamine, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, James L. Porter, announced today.
Jackson, who had previously pled guilty to a three-count indictment charging two counts of distribution of crack cocaine and methamphetamine and one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison, 3 years’ supervised release, and fined $750.00. Evidence at the plea and sentencing hearings established that, on February 24 and 25, 2015, Jackson sold both crack cocaine and methamphetamine to a confidential source working for law enforcement. When Jackson was arrested on Feb. 25, 2015, he was in possession of a large amount of U.S. currency and a large amount of crack cocaine, which was packaged for distribution. Jackson received an enhanced sentence based on his classification as a Career Offender.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Murphysboro Police Department. The Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation.
The case was assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Amanda A. Robertson for prosecution.
