Hancock County man pleads guilty to unlawful possession of a stolen firearm

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA - Brandon S. Moore, 24, of New Cumberland, West Virginia, pled guilty today to a federal firearms charge, United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced.

In June 2015, Moore stole a Glock pistol, model 22,.40 caliber from a residence in Brooke County, West Virginia. Moore pled guilty today to one count of “Possession of a Stolen Firearm." He faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Randy J. Bernard prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the West Virginia State Police, the Brooke County Sheriff’s Department, and the Weirton Police Department investigated.

Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. presided.
