Jamestown Man Sentenced For Transmitting Threatening Communication

BUFFALO, N.Y.-U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today Michael Bush, 45, of Jamestown, NY, who was convicted of transmitting communications containing threats to injure the person of another, was sentenced to 12 months in prison and three years supervised release by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Frank P. Geraci.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan T. Cullinane, who handled the case, stated that on Jan. 2, 2015, and again on Feb. 26, 2016, Bush, a former Jamestown Police Officer, posted threats on Topix.com. The posts contained threats to kill Jamestown area law enforcement officers.

The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by the Jamestown Police Department, under the direction of Chief Harry Snellings, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Adam S. Cohen.
