ROCHESTER, N.Y.- Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that David Hill, 39, of Rochester, NY, who was convicted of illegal reentry after having been previously deported due to a conviction for an aggravated felony, was sentenced to 18 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Charles Siragusa.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Rossi, who handled the case, stated that the defendant, who is a citizen of Jamaica, was convicted of Robbery in state court in 2006. After serving a 42-month sentence, Hill was deported to Jamaica and prohibited from reentering due to his conviction. On Aug. 16, 2016, the defendant was found in the Western District of New York, having unlawfully reentered the United States. Hill was found after an investigation revealed that the defendant had attempted to obtain false identification documents at the New York State Department of Vehicles using an alias.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the United States Border Patrol, under the direction of Patrol Agent-in-Charge Steven Oldman; the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Richard Allen; and the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, under the direction of Executive Deputy Commissioner Theresa Egan.
