Cushing Man Sentenced to One Month for Illegally Possessing Firearms

Portland, Maine: Acting United States Attorney Richard W. Murphy announced that Joseph Dinapoli, 28, of Cushing, Maine, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court by Judge George Z. Singal to 30 days in prison and three years of supervised release for possessing firearms after being convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. He pled guilty on Aug. 22, 2016.

According to court records, in June 2008, Dinapoli was convicted of Domestic Violence Assault, a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, and as a result was prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms. In June 2014, Dinapoli was found in possession of two handguns.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
