Court Sentences Convicted Felon to 70 Months for the Illegal Possession of a Weapon

Acting United States Attorney Steve Butler of the Southern District of Alabama announces that United States District Court Chief Judge Kristi K. DuBose sentenced Thomas Jefferson Laffitte on May 19, 2017 to serve a term of imprisonment of 70 months followed by 3 years of supervised release for illegally possessing a firearm in Mobile, Alabama on July 23, 2016 in violation of 18 USC § 922(g)(1). The defendant, who had an extensive criminal history entered a guilty plea before the Court on Feb. 15, 2017.

This case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service-Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lawrence J. Bullard for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Alabama.
