California Man Charged with Attempting to Distribute Methamphetamine

MADISON, WIS. - Scott C. Blader, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced the unsealing on an indictment charging a California man with two counts of attempting to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. Lucas Rodriguez, 27, Hemet, California, was charged in an indictment returned by a grand jury sitting in Madison, Wisconsin, on Sept. 12, 2018.

The indictment alleges that on May 31 and June 21, 2018, Rodriguez attempted to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Rodriguez was arrested yesterday at his home in California by federal agents, pursuant to a federal arrest warrant. He will make an initial appearance today in the Central District of California, in Riverside, California.

If convicted, Rodriguez faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years and a maximum of 40 years in federal prison on each count. The charges against him are the result of an investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Tomah Police Department. The prosecution of this case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Darren Halverson.
