MADISON, WIS. - Scott C. Blader, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Sara Sullivan, 41, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to 135 months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. Sullivan pleaded guilty to this charge on July 23, 2018.
The investigation revealed that in early December 2017, Sullivan and two co-defendants in the case, Tyler Stratton-Anstice and Christopher Anstice, drove from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Colorado for the purpose of purchasing methamphetamine. Sullivan and her co-defendants met with a methamphetamine supplier in Colorado Springs and purchased three pounds of methamphetamine. The following day, Sullivan and Stratton-Anstice drove the methamphetamine to Eau Claire. Anstice and Stratton-Anstice are father and son.
In imposing the sentence, Judge Conley noted that Sullivan had several prior drug trafficking convictions in Wisconsin and was on probation at the time she travelled to Colorado. Judge Conley also stated that Sullivan’s connections with pound-level drug suppliers in Minnesota and Colorado was vitally important to group’s ability to distribute large amounts of methamphetamine in Wisconsin.
Christopher Anstice was sentenced on October 2 to 10 years in federal prison for his role in this methamphetamine conspiracy. Tyler Stratton-Anstice was sentenced on October 24 to 10 years in federal prison for his role. Co-defendant Joshua Robertson will be sentenced on November 2.
The charges against Sullivan and her co-defendants are the result of an investigation by the West Central Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The prosecution of this case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron D. Wegner.
