ROCHESTER, N.Y. - U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that Derek Carlson, 30, of Lafayette, Indiana, who was convicted of distribution of child pornography, was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison by U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa M. During the following months, Carlson continued to send the undercover officer similar images and videos containing child pornography. Some of the videos and images depicted prepubescent children engaged in sexual conduct with adults, and children subjected to violent abuse.

On April 25, 2018, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence and seized multiple electronic devices, which contained approximately 320 videos and 452 images depicting child pornography.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly.
