ALEXANDRIA, La. - A former Pollock inmate was sentenced today to seven years in federal prison for attacking a Pollock staff member, said U.S. Attorney David C. Joseph.

Brandon L. Jones, 38, who is in federal custody, pleaded guilty on Aug. 20, 2019, to one count of assaulting a federal officer. Correctional officers responded to the scene and took Jones into custody. The staff member suffered multiple injuries, and underwent surgery to repair a ruptured ligament in her thumb. Jones is currently serving a 188-month federal prison sentence for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

The FBI and U.S. Bureau of Prisons investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica D. Cassidy prosecuted the case.
