Casa Grande Man Sentenced to Over 17 Years for Second Degree Murder

PHOENIX, Ariz. - On Nov. 18, 2019, Timothy Wayne Lewis, Jr., 34, of Casa Grande, Arizona, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Susan M. Brnovich to 17.5 years in prison, to be followed by 5 years of supervised release. The defendant pleaded guilty on May 20, 2019, to second degree murder.

On Sept. 26, 2018, the defendant shot and killed the victim. The murder took place on the Gila River Indian Community, and the victim was a Gila River tribal member. Lewis is a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Gila River Police Department. The prosecution was handled by Raynette Logan, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
