Former California Resident Sentenced to 5 Years in Federal Prison for Trafficking Crystal Meth

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the United States Attorneys on Oct. 28, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Leonard C Boyle, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that JASON WILLIAMS, 36, a citizen of Belize last residing in Los Angeles, California, was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport to 60 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for trafficking crystal methamphetamine to Connecticut.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on Sept. 22, 2020, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Hartford Task Force arrested an individual who possessed more than 400 grams of crystal methamphetamine. Investigators learned that the individual had received the meth from a tractor trailer driver who regularly transported kilogram quantities of meth and other drugs from California to locations in the eastern U.S. In October 2020, the individual traveled to California and was introduced to Williams, who was identified as a supplier of large quantities of meth and marijuana. Williams then traveled to Connecticut and, on Oct. 27, 2020, he and Alejandro Castillo provided the individual with a crate containing approximately 2.2 kilograms (nearly five pounds) of meth. Williams told the individual to use the crate to ship them $60,000 in proceeds from the sale of the drugs.

On Nov. 11, 2020, law enforcement seized an additional five pounds of crystal meth that Williams shipped from California to Connecticut.

Williams has been detained since his arrest on Nov. 17, 2020. On July 28, 2021, he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Williams faces immigration proceedings when he completes his prison term.

Castillo, 42 and a citizen of Belize, has pleaded guilty, awaits sentencing and is detained.

The DEA’s Hartford Task Force includes personnel from the DEA Hartford Resident Office, the Connecticut State Police, and the Bristol, Hartford, East Hartford, Enfield, Manchester, New Britain, Rocky Hill, Wethersfield, Windsor Locks and Willimantic Police Departments. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey M. Stone.
