United States Attorney Bob Murray announced today that CALVIN ANDERSON WHITE, 32, of Ethete, Wyoming pleaded guilty to assault by strangulation at a change of plea hearing on Feb. 17, 2022, before Chief United States District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl. Sentencing has been set for May 10, 2022.
According to the indictment, on or about Oct. 25, 2021, White did knowingly assault his victim by strangling and attempting to strangle them. Assault by strangulation carries a maximum penalty of not more than 10 years of imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment. A federal district court judge will determine the sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
This crime was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Timothy W. Gist is prosecuting the case.
