U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm is encouraging the international energy community to tackle the transition to clean energy and issued an invitation to join the Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCEAF) in Pittsburgh on Sept. 21-23.
"Right now, we are witnessing the beginning of one of the most significant events in human history: the clean energy transition," Granholm said in a video statement. "From Sept. 21st through the 23rd, I'm bringing together the people who are transforming our energy system," she said. "We'll be gathering here to … turn our clean energy ambition into action and accelerate our efforts to make clean energy more secure, more affordable and more accessible."
Granholm sent a similar message on Twitter.
"'I'm challenging the international energy community to tackle the energy transition and join me in
@Pittsburgh on September 21st for @GCEAF_USA," the secretary said.
The conference will include leaders of the green energy movement, entrepreneurs and energy and science ministers from more than 30 countries, the Daily Caller reported.
"The global clean energy transition will bring enormous opportunities and benefits to our communities, workers and industry," GCEAF said on its website. "The many varieties of clean energy will be key in helping us emerge from the triple global crises of climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic and a crisis of energy security where we have seen energy used as a weapon."
