Hastings Statement on September Unemployment Report

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 8, 2010 - House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Doc Hastings (WA-04) released the following statement on the new Department of Labor report showing that the economy lost 95,000 jobs in September:

“Since the enactment of the Democrats’ trillion-dollar stimulus bill, which the Administration promised would keep unemployment below eight percent, the jobless situation has only gotten worse. It’s no wonder that Americans across the country are still asking ‘where are the jobs?’ The Obama Administration’s big government agenda has proven one thing - wasteful spending, higher taxes and burdensome mandates do not create jobs. Unfortunately, they are continuing to implement policies - like the job-killing moratorium on deepwater drilling - that are only putting more people out of work. Republicans are ready to cut spending and prevent the looming tax hikes in order to create jobs and get the U.S. economy back on track."
