Chairman Hastings’ Statement on June Unemployment Numbers

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 8, 2011 - House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (WA-04) released the following statement regarding the latest unemployment numbers from the U.S. Department of Labor.

“As yet another disappointing jobs report showed unemployment rising to 9.2%, the American people are growing increasingly frustrated with the Obama Administration’s dismal effort to spur job creation. House Republicans have introduced and passed bill after bill that would add jobs to our economy, yet President Obama and the Democrat controlled Senate refuse to act. Three offshore energy bills that I introduced and passed in the House with bipartisan support would create 1.2 million jobs and add $840 million to the treasury to help pay down our staggering national debt. Unfortunately for Americans who are out of work, those bipartisan bills are collecting dust on Harry Reid’s desk as the Democrats continue to sit on the sidelines while Republicans offer real solutions to create jobs."
