Hastings’ Statement on Senate Passage of Helium Legislation

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Natural Resources on Sept. 26, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 26, 2013 - House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (WA-04) issued the following statement regarding Senate passage of H.R. 527, the Helium Stewardship Act:

“This final bill reflects true bipartisan and bicameral work for the greater good of our Nation and economy. I thank my colleagues in the House and Senate for their work and dedication to passing a bill that will not only prevent an impending helium shortage on October 1st, but make important reforms to a federal program in order to get a better return for taxpayers, reduce the deficit, and finally get the federal government out of the helium business. This bill is crucial to protect thousands of American jobs in the high-tech industry and ensure we remain economically competitive. The House and the Senate came together to work towards a common sense solution and I look forward to the President signing it into law."
