DEFAZIO STATEMENT ON APPOINTMENT OF BPA ADMINSTRATOR ELLIOT MAINZER

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Natural Resources on Jan. 27, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee Peter DeFazio (D-OR) issued the following statement in response to the appointment of Elliot Mainzer as administration of the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA):

“I am pleased with Elliot’s selection to permanently head the BPA. Over the next several months, BPA will be a part of major decisions that impact Northwest ratepayers, small businesses, and our environment. BPA needs someone who is smart, creative, and knowledgeable to lead the agency through some complex and challenging issues - including the salmon recovery plan and the Columbia River Treaty. I am confident that person is Elliot Mainzer. I am looking forward to continuing to work with him to protect and enhance the region’s carbon emission free hydropower system that serves as the backbone of the Pacific Northwest economy."
