Washington, D.C. - Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee Peter DeFazio (D-OR) issued the following statement on the retirement of Chairman Doc Hastings:
"Doc has been a tireless advocate for his district, the state of Washington, and the Pacific Northwest for twenty years. We don't always agree, but in a hyper-partisan Congress, Doc and I have worked in good-faith on complex challenges facing the region including the renegotiation of the Columbia River Treaty, the protection of our unique Northwest federal hydropower system, and the economic hardships facing our rural timber dependent communities. I respect Doc, I thank him for his service, and I look forward to continuing to work with him over the next year on critical issues before the committee." #
