Bishop Statement on Executive Order on the Waters of the United States Rule

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Natural Resources on Feb. 28, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C.-Today, President Trump issued an Executive Order on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) controversial Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule. Chairman Rob Bishop (R-UT) issued the following statement:

“This rule was the epitome of punitive regulation. Beginning its reversal is a welcome reprieve for states, farmers, ranchers, and urbanand rural communities across the country from the punishing overreach of the EPA. President Trump and EPA Administrator Pruitt’s commitment to restore federalism in our country’s approach to environmental stewardship is a much needed shift. With this order, no longer will states’ rightful primacy in water management be undermined by executive fiat and oppressive federal bullying."
