White Sands National Park announces National Moth Week from July 23 through July 31, which "celebrates moths' beauty, life cycles, and habitats. "Moth-ers" of all ages and abilities are encouraged to learn about, observe, and document moths in their backyards, parks, and neighborhoods."
To celebrate this week, White Sands invites you to join our citizen science Backyard Moth BioBlitz at iNaturalist. Take a digital self-guided "moth walk" on the park's Interdune Boardwalk. Listen to Eric Metzler, White Sands' resident moth expert, in a podcast on the importance of moths to our ecosystem and his exciting research being conducted at White Sands. Stop by the park's partner Western National Parks Association stop to check out products featuring White Sands moths.
