BLM seeks input on proposed Glennallen Field Office campground fee modifications

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public comment until Aug. 29 on its proposal to adjust use and reservation fees at several Glennallen Field Office (GFO) campgrounds.

“We are looking forward to hearing from you all,” said Field Manager Marnie Graham. “Fees are important for maintenance and improvements, which are all designed to provide high quality recreation experiences at the campgrounds.”

The proposal is publicly available, outlined in the Draft Glennallen Field Office Recreation Fee Site Business Plan information related to the recreation fee sites, proposed fee changes, operation and maintenance costs, planned expenditures, a financial analysis  and potential impacts of fee changes. The business plan includes the following modifications:

  • Increase the individual campsite fee at Sourdough Creek, Paxson Lake, Tangle Lakes, and Brushkana Creek campgrounds from $12.00 to $15.00 at per night at regular sites.
    • Walk-in sites at Sourdough Creek and Paxson Lake Campgrounds would remain at $6 per night.
  • Add a $10.00 fee for the Paxson Lake Campground recreational vehicle (RV) dump station for non-campers.
  • Add an expanded amenity fee for reservation services.
The Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act of 2004 requires that all fees collected from recreation sites be reinvested for services, maintenance, and improvements to the sites. Fees may be adjusted from time to time to reflect changes in costs, due to inflation, and to ensure a fair return for the use of public lands.

Public comments will be accepted through August 29, 2022 and may be submitted to Alysia Hancock at ahancock@blm.gov.
