The final phase of work at Deer Creek Dam is being completed by the Bureau of Reclamation. Frehner Construction Company, Inc., a contractor hired by the Reclamation to do renovation at the dam, is removing material from a borrow area for stockpiling. The stockpiled material will be placed into the downstream berm of Deer Creek Dam beginning in March or April 2004, completing Safety of Dams work at the dam. Reclamation does not expect this last phase of work to interfere with traffic near or across the dam.
Deer Creek Dam is a zoned, earth and rock-filled structure with a height of 235 feet. It was constructed in 1941 with a capacity of 152,000 acre-feet of water.
