Reclamation Releases Draft Environmental Documents for Dublin Recycled Water Distribution and Retrofit Project

The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on July 28, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

The Bureau of Reclamation has made available for public review and comment a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Central Dublin Recycled Water Distribution and Retrofit Project. Under the proposed action, Reclamation would provide federal funds to share the cost of the project with the Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD) to extend recycled water distribution pipelines and plumbing retrofits for landscape irrigation at several schools, parks, streetscapes and medians in the city of Dublin, about 35 miles east of San Francisco.

Federal funds would come through the Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Program (Public Law 102-575). Title XVI is an important part of the U.S. Department of the Interior's WaterSMART Program which seeks to achieve a sustainable water strategy to meet the nation's water needs. The program authorizes federal cost-sharing in approved recycled water projects up to 50 percent of the total eligible pre-construction planning costs and up to 25 percent of the total eligible project construction costs.

The Draft EA/FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and may be viewed online. If you encounter problems accessing the documents online, please call 916-978-5100, or

e-mail mppublicaffairs@usbr.gov.

Written comments on the Draft EA/FONSI are due by Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, and should be mailed to Douglas Kleinsmith, Bureau of Reclamation, 2800 Cottage Way, Sacramento, CA 95825, or e-mailed to dkleinsmith@usbr.gov.
