Reclamation Releases Environmental Documents for Authorization of Naval Air Station Fallon Stormwater Discharge

The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on Dec. 17, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

CARSON CITY, Nev. - The Bureau of Reclamation has released the Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact authorizing the continued discharge and conveyance of stormwater from Naval Air Station (NAS) Fallon in facilities that are part of Reclamation’s Newlands Project.

Reclamation has determined that the proposed conveyances would not interfere with Reclamation’s use of its facilities and easements. The stormwater discharge originates as rain and snowmelt within NAS Fallon’s main base and housing areas. Stormwater is routed through multiple storm drains on the base, which discharge into Newlands Project drainage facilities. The facilities then discharge the stormwater into wetlands at Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge.

The EA and FONSI are available at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=23478. If you encounter problems accessing the documents, please call 916-978-5100 (TTY 800-877-8339) or email mppublicaffairs@usbr.gov.
