Reclamation Releases Final Environmental Documents for the Proposed Contra Costa Water District Shortcut Pipeline Improvements Project

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation has released

the Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for

the Contra Costa Water District Shortcut Pipeline Improvements Project.

Under the proposed action, a variety of improvements would be made to the

pipeline and the surrounding area in order to simplify operations and

maintenance.

The Shortcut Pipeline is owned by Reclamation and operated and maintained

by the Contra Costa Water District. This pipeline is also the main source

of water supply for the city of Martinez and the Shell Oil Martinez

refinery. Critical repairs and improvements necessary to ensure reliable

long-term water supply using the pipeline have been identified in the EA

and consist of access road construction, infrastructure rehabilitation, and

long-term operation and maintenance activities.
