SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation prepared an environmental assessment to evaluate and disclose potential environmental impacts associated with providing funds to the Stockton East Water District to construct a 73-acre groundwater recharge basin. The new groundwater recharge basin would allow storage of between 5,500 and 6,500 acre-feet per year in excess surface water.
Reclamation would provide $300,000 to the district through its Drought Response Program, which is designed to help water users develop drought contingency plans and build long-term drought resilience.
The environmental document is available for review at: https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=32101.
