Reclamation announces contract-renewal negotiations for Central Valley Project Friant Water Authority and Madera-Chowchilla Water and Power Authority

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation, Friant Water Authority and Madera-Chowchilla Water and Power Authority have scheduled contract-renewal negotiation sessions for the transfer of operation, maintenance and replacement activities related to the Friant-Kern Canal and the Madera Canal and associated facilities.

The date and time of the teleconference-only negotiations are as follows:

June 8, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. PDT

The public is welcome to observe the negotiations and make comments afterwards.

The Friant Water Authority is the non-federal operating entity for the Friant-Kern Canal. This canal runs 152 miles from the town of Friant to just north of Bakersfield and provides water to over one million acres of highly productive farmland.

The Madera-Chowchilla Water and Power Authority is the non-federal operating entity for the Madera Canal. This canal carries water 36 miles north from Millerton Lake to furnish lands in Madera County.
