Reclamation notifies public of changing water levels at Glendo and Guernsey Reservoirs due to end-of-season drawdown

The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on Aug. 26, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

MILLS, Wyoming -- The Wyoming Area Office of the Bureau of Reclamation in Mills, Wyoming, will be lowering the water level in Guernsey Reservoir as the 2020 irrigation season draws to a close.

Guernsey Reservoir levels are expected to remain at the normal summer reservoir level through Labor Day. Reclamation will begin drawing down Guernsey Reservoir on the morning of September 8, and the boat ramps are anticipated to become unusable as early as September 14. In response to declining reservoir levels, Reclamation advises that watercraft be removed from the reservoir while the boat ramps remain usable.

Glendo Reservoir levels will be held above 4584.07 feet (approximately 100,000 acre-feet) through Labor Day. Glendo Reservoir levels are expected to gradually decline and reach a water surface elevation near 4582.50 feet (approximately 94,000 acre-feet) around September 13. Glendo Reservoir levels will then stabilize and slowly increase.

Boaters, recreationists, and irrigators should take proper precautions regarding changing river flows between Glendo and Guernsey Reservoirs and the lowering of Guernsey Reservoir.
