Reclamation announces public teleconference negotiations with Central Valley Project Cross Valley contractors

The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on March 26, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation today announced a public negotiation session with Central Valley Project Cross Valley contractors for a water-service contract conversion. The date and time of the teleconference-only negotiations are as follows:

March 30, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., PDT

Call 877-932-2131 and, when prompted, type in participant passcode 4896209#

The public is welcome to listen during the teleconferencing negotiations and comment after the negotiations close.

Section 4011 of the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act directs Reclamation to convert water service contracts to repayment contracts upon a contractor’s request and authorizes prepayment of outstanding CVP construction costs. Under Section 4011, full repayment is due within three years of the contract conversion.

Both the prepayment and accelerated repayment of the contract will result in the federal government being repaid in advance of the original repayment deadline. These dollars will be placed in an account to fund much needed storage projects. Increasing storage capacity will allow Reclamation’s projects to capture additional water in wet years to help meet the water needs for project purposes in dry years.
