The contract will allow the U.S. to recover the costs that were expended to repair the dam as a result of state-of-the-art changes to improve seismic loads on the dam. The U.S. determined that the dam and related facilities needed modifications pursuant to the Reclamation Safety of Dams Act, as amended, to preserve its structural integrity, maintain project benefits, and reduce the risk to the downstream public.
