Making the nation’s electric power grid and oil and natural gas infrastructure resilient to cyber threats is a top priority for the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE). It is a complex challenge that requires an “all hands on deck" approach involving both industry and the public sector. Our collaboration with our partners will be front and center next week at the DistribuTECH 2018 Conference in San Antonio when OE’s Cybersecurity for Energy Delivery Systems (CEDS) program showcases the progress and results of 11 research projects. Our industry partners will be at our booth Tuesday through Thursday explaining how these innovations will help improve the security of the nation’s energy critical infrastructure. If you plan to be in San Antonio next week and want to see a demonstration of these exciting technologies, please stop by and see us at Booth 1365.

With cyber threats growing in frequency, scale, and sophistication, we have to change the game to stay ahead. For over a decade, we have been working closely with our private and public partners toward the energy sector’s vision of resilient energy delivery control systems that are designed, installed, operated, and maintained to survive a cyber incident while sustaining critical functions. The focus is on preventing, detecting, and mitigating cyber attacks by building operational capacity and developing cutting-edge technologies that improve protection of the nation’s critical energy delivery infrastructure. One example of the important progress that we’re making is the fact that the energy sector is now using more than 35 new tools and technologies funded by our CEDS program.
Next week’s DistribuTECH conference will be a great opportunity for us to share some of this progress. Within the next few days, I’ll post another blog on the technologies we will be highlighting at the conference. In the meantime, you can learn more about our cybersecurity work by visiting the cyber section of the OE website.
