The Bureau of Land Management Colorado State Office has posted its list of parcels for the quarterly competitive geothermal, oil and gas lease sale scheduled for 9 a.m., Nov. 10, 2010, at the State Office in Lakewood. One geothermal parcel of 799 acres near Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort in the Royal Gorge (Canon City) field office area will be offered. In addition, 5 oil and gas parcels totaling 10,365 acres are being offered in the sale. The oil and gas parcels are located within BLM Colorado’s Colorado River Valley (Silt) and Little Snake (Craig) field office areas.Protests of parcels being offered for lease must be in writing and delivered by 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, by hand, postal delivery, or fax, (303) 239-3799, to the BLM Colorado State Office, 2850 Youngfield St., Lakewood, CO 80215.The BLM manages 253 million acres - more land than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estates throughout the nation. The BLM’s multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
