CANON CITY, Colo. - The Bull Gulch fire, burning north of Highway 50 on BLM-managed lands, has grown to 50 acres. It is approximately one mile east of Table Mountain, and about nine miles northwest of the intersection of Road Gulch and Copper Gulch Road.
Eight smokejumpers and two 20-person hand crews will remain on scene throughout the night, working to contain the fire. Two Single Engine Airtankers dropped retardant on the fire throughout Wednesday afternoon.
The fire is burning in brush, pinon and juniper trees. Fire officials are expecting humidity to reach about 22 percent this evening. A Red Flag warning has been issued for the fire area Thursday.
No structures have been lost and no evacuations are in place. There are no closures.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
