CRAIG, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management, Yampa Valley OHV Trailriders and Stay the Trail Colorado invite the public to come learn the motorized trails at the popular Sand Wash Basin in northwestern Colorado through an organized fun ride Saturday May 10.
This educational event is open to ATVs, motorcycles, and 4x4 high-clearance vehicles and is a great opportunity to experience some of the rarely explored features the area has to offer.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the BLM’s corral facility on County Road 67. The guided ride begins at 9:15 a.m. and will last approximately six hours.
“We want to introduce participants to Sand Wash and its special resources," said Gina Robison, outdoor recreation planner for the BLM Little Snake Field Office in Craig. “We want to show people this is one of the best places to ride in northwestern Colorado, and we want to emphasize ways to enjoy riding while respecting the remarkable resources in the area such as archaeological and paleontological resources, wild horses and scenic values."
Participants are encouraged to camp Friday, when there will be a hotdog and marshmallow roast. Saturday’s event includes exploring Sand Wash, a BBQ, a raffle, free sound testing and other activities.
