The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposal to reduce hazardous fuels for wildfires along the base of Basalt Mountain north of El Jebel near Spring Park Reservoir.
936 acres would be targeted for prescribed fire and 118 acres would be targeted for maintenance of previous mechanical work along the boundary between public and private lands in the area. The project would reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires entering private property from BLM lands and provide for firefighter and public safety.
The BLM will hold a public open house to review the proposal and answer questions on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at 5 p.m. in the Sopris Room of the Eagle County Community Center, 0020 Eagle County Drive, El Jebel, CO 81623. The project environmental analysis is available online at http://www.blm.gov/co/st/en/BLM_Information/nepa/gsfo.html.
Written comments and questions should be directed to the BLM’s Colorado River Valley Field Office at 2300 River Frontage Road, Silt, CO 81652 or submitted online to blm_co_si_crvfo_webmail@blm.gov. Comments will be most helpful if received by Feb. 11, 2015.
Before including your address, phone number, email address or other personal identifying information in a comment, be advised that the entire comment - including personal identifying information - may be made publicly available at any time.
