ANCHORAGE - The BLM Campbell Creek Science Center and the Anchorage School District have teamed up to host Outdoor Week, the single largest event of the year at the Science Center. This year marks the 41st anniversary of this hugely successful outdoor education event. Anchorage area sixth-grade students will learn about the natural world through hands-on learning activities. Instructors from state, federal, and community organizations will guide students through a series of learning stations that feature:
* gold panning (an ever-popular station!)
* bear awareness
* fly tying and fly casting
* water flow
* Alaskan animal adaptations
* Soils, insects, weather, and more!
Outdoor Week is May 12-15, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. each day. The BLM Campbell Creek Science Center is located at 68th Avenue & Elmore Road. For more information, contact Project Lead Luise Woelflein at 267-1241.
Note: The media is invited to drop in at any of the learning stations throughout this event. Please check in at the Science Center for a map with locations!
