BLM Invites Public Comments on Grant Application

ARCATA, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management Arcata Field Office is inviting public comments on a draft grant application to the state of California's Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division. The field office is requesting funds for law enforcement and ground operations at the Samoa Dunes Recreation Area. Funds would be used in fiscal year 2017 (Oct. 1, 2016 - Sept. 30, 2017).

An open house to discuss the application is scheduled for Tuesday, March 1, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Arcata Field Office, 1695 Heindon Rd., Arcata. Participants will be asked to share ideas and concerns and recommend specific projects and funding levels that could be included in the preliminary grant request.

The grant application, along with those from other BLM field offices, will be available online March 8 at www.ohv.parks.ca.gov.

Comments must be submitted by April 4 to the appropriate BLM field office and the OHMVR Division.

The OHMVR grants and cooperative agreements program supports well-managed off-highway vehicle recreation in California by providing financial assistance to cities, counties, districts, federal agencies (including the BLM), state agencies, educational institutions, federally recognized Native American tribes, and non-profit entities.
