ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Bureau of Land Management invites public comments until Sept. 14, 2016, on the scope of the analysis and issues to consider for the proposed Pilot Goldstrike Inc. Bull Valley Exploration Project.
The proposed project would explore for minerals about 30 miles northwest of St. George, in Washington County, within the historic Goldstrike District, creating approximately 70 acres of new surface disturbance over a 10-year period.
The BLM’s e-Planning website, https://eplanning.blm.gov/epl-front-office/eplanning/nepa/nepa_register.do, has more information about the project. Also, a public scoping meeting will take place Aug. 22, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Dixie Center, 1835 South Convention Center Drive, in St. George. The meeting will be an open house format with BLM personnel to explain the environmental review process, the mining regulations, and other requirements. Representatives of Pilot Goldstrike will be available to describe the proposal.
The public scoping period began Aug. 15, and ends Sept. 14, 2016. Written scoping comments for the EA must be postmarked or otherwise hand delivered to 345 East Riverside Drive, St. George, UT 84790 by 4:30 p.m. on or before September 14; faxed to ATTN: John Kellam at 435-688-3252; or e-mailed to: jkellam@blm.gov.
