Volunteers needed for fence removal project

SILT, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management and Colorado Mountain Club are seeking volunteers to complete a fence removal project at Third Gulch for National Public Lands Day Sept 24.

The project will eliminate a hazard to mule deer populations and improve riparian habitat by removing an obstruction that concentrates livestock in the area.

Volunteers will stage at 9 a.m. at the Third Gulch trailhead near Eagle. Volunteers should wear long pants, long sleeves, work shoes and sunglasses or safety glasses. Volunteers should also bring water and leather gloves. Work is expected to last up to six hours.

Lunch and t-shirts will be provided.
