Arcata, Ukiah Field Offices Lift Fire Restrictions

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on Oct. 12, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

REDDING, Calif. - With the onset of cooler weather, the Bureau of Land Management has ended fire restrictions on public lands managed by the Arcata Field Office in Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity counties and the BLM Ukiah Field Office in Lake, Mendocino, Sonoma, Napa, Yolo, Colusa, Glenn and Solano counties.

Easing of restrictions means that campfires can again be used outside of developed campgrounds and posted recreation sites. Campfire permits are required.

"Even though we've had rain, people still need to be careful with fire," said Tim Jones, fire management officer for the BLM in Arcata. "Fires should never be used on windy days, and it is imperative that campers fully extinguish campfires before leaving a campsite."

For more information, contact the Arcata Field Office at (707) 825-2300, or the Ukiah Field Office at (707) 468-4000.
