MOAB, Utah-The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Moab Field Office is seeking public comments on an Environmental Assessment (EA) analyzing potential environmental consequences of renewing a ten-year grazing permit on the Big Flat-Tenmile, Horsethief Point, and Spring Canyon Bottom Allotments. The project area is located approximately 15 miles west of Moab, Utah, and contains 143,642 acres of BLM-administered lands. Three ranching operations use these allotments in conjunction with lands managed by the Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration.
The EA looks at a range of four alternatives and evaluates range improvements and resource protection measures that address issues identified during internal and public scoping in 2016. These issues include potential impacts to soils and vegetation, recreation, invasive species, grazing management, and wildlife, including sensitive species.
