BLM seeks volunteers for cleanup on National Public Lands Day

FARMINGTON, NM ‒ On Sept. 30, the Bureau of Land Management Farmington Field Office invites the public to celebrate National Public Lands Day, an event that seeks to connect the community to public lands in their backyard.

The BLM is seeking volunteers for trash cleanup at the Glade Run Recreation Area from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers are asked to check-in at 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the BLM Farmington Field Office at 6251 College Blvd, Farmington, NM 87401.

Volunteers will receive t-shirts and a free entrance pass from the National Environment Education Foundation to be used at any participating Federal agency fee area in the United States. To participate, please email Chris Wenman at the BLM FFO at cwenman@blm.gov, or call 505-564-7727, and include the number of volunteers you plan to bring to the event. Volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their volunteer form. The BLM will provide volunteers with gloves, bottled water, trash bags and five-gallon buckets on the day of the event.

NPLD is an annual event held at hundreds of sites nationwide during which citizens have an opportunity to give back to their public lands. Whether you volunteer on NPLD, enjoy some boating, hiking, fishing, camping or simply learn more about your public lands and the plants and wildlife that live there, we invite you to take this day to enjoy the great outdoors and celebrate the lands that give us so much.
