SALEM, OR - The Bureau of Land Management Northwest Oregon District will be expanding the parking area at Sandy Ridge Trailhead, including construction of a bike demonstration and special event area. While the parking area will be closed during construction, all trails will remain open.
The BLM provides opportunities for development of energy infrastructure, active timber management, and commercial recreation on our public lands that create jobs that help local communities grow.
“We appreciate the public’s understanding as we make these investments to improve parking for our visitors at this sought after mountain biking destination," said Jose Linares, Northwest Oregon District Manager.
Beginning October 2 and extending for about two weeks access will be limited at the trailhead and the parking area will be closed. Depending on factors such as weather, construction may reduce access through the fall. Visitors are encouraged to use alternate means of transport such as shuttle buses, carpooling, or drop-offs, as there will be minimal parking available. Access to the Homestead Road is essential for emergency and administrative vehicle entry and needs to remain clear.
