CAÑON CITY, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking information on two incidents involving dumping buckets of human waste on public lands along Copper Gulch Road.
“It is important that those responsible are held accountable," said Field Office Manager Keith Berger. “Their actions pose risks to public health, as well as wildlife in the area and ultimately, taxpayers end up paying for the clean up."
Both incidents occurred in September. The Fremont County Road and Bridge Department cleaned up the first incident and the BLM has contracted a local hazardous materials company to clean up the second.
Disposing human waste and other hazardous materials on public lands is punishable by law. Anyone with information can contact BLM Royal Gorge Field Office at (719) 269-8535.
