Burning Man has occurred annually on public lands situated on the Black Rock Desert Playa since 1990 and is the largest and most complex Special Recreation Permit (SRP) issued by the BLM. Public involvement is an extremely important piece of this process as BLM prepares to analyze the proposed renewal of the SRP. BLM and Burning Man are excited to announce these opportunities for early public involvement and encourage all who have input on the issues, impacts and potential alternatives to attend one of the meetings or send comments to blm_nv_burningmaneis@blm.gov.

These meetings will be conducted in an open house format, but time will also be allotted for a presentation and a ‘question & answer’ session with both Burning Man and BLM staff members. A summary of Burning Man’s Proposed Action, which outlines the major elements of the SRP renewal, is available online at https://go.usa.gov/xnBTu. If you have any questions regarding the upcoming public outreach meetings please contact Kyle Hendrix, BLM Public Affairs Specialist, at 775-635-4054 or khendrix@blm.gov.
